Digestive Problems

Why do our patients come back? We help with Digestive Problems.

Many of our patients return to see us because our Chiropractors help with chronic digestive issues. Normal daily activity can be difficult if you suffer digestive problems. If your Digestive Problem is ongoing and chronic, it can lower your quality of life.

When the spine is misaligned the nervous system becomes irritated. Then body organs associated with the nerve irritation can malfunction. If vertebrae in the Thoracic and Lumbar area of the spine are misaligned then nerves associated with digestive organs can be affected. Chiropractic adjustments to the spine restore the nervous system which helps return normal organ functions. By helping restore a healthy nervous system, we help your body heal your digestive problems.

Our Chiropractors can help with theses Digestive Problems:

Acid Reflux Disease: When acid from the stomach reaches the esophagus it’s called acid reflux. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) / Acid Reflux Disease is caused by a number of things. Certain foods, stress, medications, pregnancy are all causes. Pressure on nerves in the Lumbar area of the spine is another cause of Acid Reflux. The pressure on nerves can be a result of spine misalignment or abnormal curvature of the spine.

IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome): IBS is a chronic disorder affecting the large intestine with a number of symptoms. These symptoms may include bloating, cramping, abdominal pain, diarrhea and constipation. The cause of IBS might be genetic or an alteration in bacteria in the bowel. A prior intestinal infection and chronic stress are causes as well. Another cause of IBS is a Thoracic herniated disc. Also, if Thoracic vertebrae in the spine are out of alignment it may cause IBS.

Crohn’s Disease: Genetics, the environment and an overactive immune system are causes of Crohn’s Disease. Crohn’s Disease is characterized by inflammation occurring anywhere in the digestive tract but most likely at the end of the small intestines. This can be a lifelong condition that may require surgery, medication and ongoing treatment. Chiropractic Care will often complement other types of treatment. we help the body battle Crohn’s Disease by strengthening the immune system with Chiropractic treatments.

Ulcerative Colitis: Unlike Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis is limited to the large intestine (rectum and colon). This is chronic condition with swelling, inflammation and possibly ulcers forming on the inner lining of the large intestine. It may begin in the rectum or colon, then spread through the large intestine. Medication and surgery may be needed to stop Ulcerative Colitis. If a vertebrae moves out of its correct position, it may interfere with nervous system messages to the intestines. This interference may inhibit health digestive functions in the large intestine.

Bloating, Constipation, Heartburn: Your digestive issues don’t have to be associated with a disorder to benefit from Chiropractic Care. You might be experiencing one persistent problem such as bloating, constipation or heartburn. Getting an adjustment from our Chiropractors can return healthy nervous system function. When your nervous system is healthy you can restore digestive system health as well. This can bring relief for patients dealing with a certain type of digestive issue.
